Snacks anyone???

Part of my job of being a mother is nourishing my family...and doing it well!! I do my best to have include a protein, grain, dairy, fruit/veggie.  in our dinners meals.  I really struggle with snack ideas though.  I am tired of the same ol' same ol' snacks and lunches.

Any ideas for some snacks for Seth and I (healthy or just plain good:)???  I really need food between meals, and having ideas planned out in advance helps to thwart my fridge raid, frustration, and eventual turn to the "dark side"  (i.e. chocolate).

**One snack idea I came across was grannie smith apples thinly sliced with peanut butter and craisins on top.  It is pretty good!

**I also like maple walnuts (walnuts with 1/3 cup maple syrup in a saute pan until it caramelizes).

Any one have any other ideas for good snacks...healthy or indulgent?  I can't be eating apples and nuts forever:)

My baby loves green peas. She is younger than Seth though. I just keep a bag in the freezer. Buddy boy likes meatballs. We also have pretzels dipped in hummus or peanut butter.

I am in the same boat you are in. We are in a snack rut as well. I like to think of lunches and snacks as being in the same category. So anything you would give to him for lunch you can do for a snack too.
-We like making healthy muffins or cookies to serve with fruit and milk.
-Cheesesticks with crackers/fruits/veggies
-smoothies (fruit or chocolate with banana)

I think the most important thing is to make a list of all of your ideas and post it on the fridge so that you don't have to think too hard when you are hungry and ready for a snack. It's also helpful if you plan some when you are planning your weekly meals.
Sorry, I don't have many great ideas. But I hope to find some soon. Good luck.

Thanks for your comments on my blog. I'm not always great at responding to them.
