We Love Baby Girl

We sure do love our baby Emery. She has made our family more complete and happy. She has to be one of the sweetest and most accommodating babies ever. We are getting to know her better and she just has seemed to mesh into our little family and the daily flow of things.
Here is what we know about her so far:

She was born Feb. 23, 2010 and was 7lbs. 7 oz. with chubby cheeks and a full head of hair.
She grows fast. She regained her birthweight in 4 days:)
She sleeps through the night at least 3 times a week and the other nights only wakes up once.
She is a cuddler and loves to sleep in someone's arms or right next to someone
She rarely cries and when she does it is just a few peeps to remind us that she is here (it is a very feminine cry:). She is very consolable.
She has always been very alert.
She smiled for the first time at 3 weeks (and no it was not just gas). My mom was holding her and I walked up to her. She smiled and started kicking:)

Here is her first few weeks in our family:

Between contractions and pre c-section.

Here she is at 6:00 pm and after laboring all day to no avail.

I'm loving life on morphine and under a warm blanket. She had just eaten for the first time.

Brandon adores her. I love seeing him with a baby girl.

My two kids. I still can't believe I can say that! Seth came to visit two times in the hospital. He was so gentle with her. He was timid while holding her, but gave her plenty of kisses. (This changed when we got home. He was more stand offish at home).
Brandon was watching a movie with them while I rested in a chair nearby!

Kisses from Seth. He was seriously so gentle with her.

Her going home outfit!

Getting out of the hospital. I had mixed feelings. I wanted to go home to be with Seth, but I got so much rest in the hospital. Yes, we did send her to the nursery at night...we were much smarter the second time around:)

I had the perfect homecoming. Nana, Kristen and Seth made a sign, hung balloons and made a cake. We had a nice ham dinner that night. It was a perfect day!

Making Emery's cake ( that she didn't get to eat! Mommy did!)

Seth came running up to the car as we pulled in. It was so exciting to come home!

She holds her hair just like Seth when she is tired or sleeping. How funny is that?

See how much she has grown. She is so sweet!

This has to be one of my favorites. She always seems to be grinning and has crazy hair.

She has been an on the go baby (like I said...she is so accommodating. I don't hesitate taking her places because I know that she is not a handful. It will be interesting to watch her grow!

She loves watching Seth. He is adjusting so much better to her. I think this picture is hilarious. It almost looks like she is going to snag his toy.
Dressing her has been so fun! This is one of my favorite dresses. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a great picture of her in it, but she is still cute!

Changes

This feels like our first normal week. Adjusting has been interesting to say the least. Not because she has been a difficult child at all. In fact, I couldn't ask for a more chill and accommodating baby. She will cry, but it seriously feels like she is just reasoning with you and saying, "I'm hungry" or tired. It is very consolable (and a very cute cry). She has yet to display a fussy period of the day. She seems fine with our noisy house and just goes with the flow.

It is my two and a half year old that has been my challenge. I was not expecting that at all. I was prepared for a fussy baby, but not a strange toddler phase. Seth has been more high maintenance to say the least these days. It has been challenging knowing how to help him mourn the loss of his being the only child. He has been so much more pouty and sad lately, mostly because he knows that it causes a scene and we will come running and asking what is wrong. He has very sweet and tender moments too, but I am challenged with how to deal with the pouty and more defiant Seth. Has anyone else gone through this?? Being a mom is a very emotional job. I go to bed every night wondering how to do better the next day and assessing what happened good and not so good this day. I love both my babies so much and am learning how to meet the needs of both. Keep your fingers crossed for me:) that we grow out of this phase soon.
