Trip to remember...

We took a long weekend break and headed to Yosemite with some friends.  We had a great time hanging out with everyone and enjoying good food, games and gorgeous scenery.  When we arrived in Yosemite and got our first view of the valley this is what we saw (we pulled over and took some shots):

Our first order of business was going to see the falls.  The amount of water pouring over was amazing.  The force of the water created a huge wind and mist soaked us.  It was so much cooler, the closer to the falls we got.  Too bad our kids hate water:)...yeah right.  These two were in heaven.  They ran around screaming and were totally hyper.  They didn't mind the cold at all!  It was a perfect time of year to see the falls.
Yosemite falls!

We saw a lot of wildlife.  Can you spot the deer in this picture?  Hint:  look to the right of Brandon.  We even saw a small brown bear as we were driving back to the cabin!
Our first small hike was to Mirror lake.  The kids rode in the carriers.  Once up to the lake they played in the freezing cold water.  Their poor feet were bright red, yet they still protested when it was time to get out.  Funny kids!

We had a picnic lunch at the Awhanee out on the grass before we started the hike.  It was in a perfect location to see multiple falls and had a green open area for the kids to run around on.  The squirrels were fearless and were always watching out for our food.  We were careful not to leave anything.

Back at the cabin we played lots of games!  Sorry Nate...our team didn't fare so well in Canasta:)  I played Monopoly for the first time since I was nine, and as far as I am concerned, I can wait another 18 years before I play again.  Whoo it is a long game!

Seth and Paige LOVED staying in the same house.  They would wake up in the morning and immediately look for the other.  They were so happy and hyper together.  They would run around the house squealing!

Poor Britt wasn't feeling well (she had tonsilitis and a pulled muscle in her back).  She was nice enough to stay back with the kids one afternoon as we went on an 8 mile or so hike to Nevada and Vernal falls along the Mist Trail.  Whew it was a work out, but so fun to get wet as we walked next to the falls.  We had lunch at the top and headed back.  It felt invigorating to go on such a good hike with friends:)

We rounded out the trip by going to the Giant Sequoia trees.  Did I mention how great it was to go on this trip!  The weather was perfect, cabin close to the valley, and the waterfalls full and spectacular.

BJ- help me understand. You went to the woods, but stayed in a cabin??? Have you gone soft?!!! Did all those years camping with the group not prepare you for camping as an adult?! Come out to Texas and camp wtih me during the fourth of July- that will just about suck the life out of any Navy seal.
