For my own record

I've been meaning to write things like this down for months now.  I was pretty good about journaling about Seth for the first few months of his life, but poor Emery girl doesn't even have the story about her birth written down.  I will get to that soon.  I need to write these things down because those who know my  memory know that they are all too soon forgotten.

Seth has a bit of a stutter these days.  Most of the time it occurs with the word "but" or "so" or when he is telling a very involved story or is trying to express something that he doesn't quite have the vocabulary for. It is cute at times, frustrating at others, and I am just hoping he grows out of it.  For the time being, he is  pretty cute and really does have some great ideas to share.

Some of my favorite things he says:  "mom you need to 'cloth' my teeth"  (floss).  He also likes to go outside and play "crisbee"  (frisbee).  Our remote is called the "me-remote" -no idea why!

At the moment he won't take a picture for the life of him.  If you want to catch a cute picture you have to surprise him.

He is obsessed with fishing poles.  He breaks the ends of sticks to make it hang and be his fishing pole or ties "cloth" to the end and makes a pole.

He loves to ride his bike around in circles in the backyard and is pretty fast.

Praying has been a hard thing for him these days.  He feels like we do it "all the time!" (insert whinny voice).

He loves the game Angry Birds on the ipad and usually wakes up around 6:30 and takes the ipad and plays until Brandon and I get up around 6:45 am.

His favorite activity is jumping on our couches!

He is so smart and comes up with great ideas all the time.  You can see his mind at work as he builds with blocks.  He has great spacial awareness and is very creative.  He draws great pictures of people and they melt my heart.

Emery is hilarious to have around.  She is super expressive and has an infectious smile!  She cracks herself  up.  She toddles around the house and finds toys.  She likes putting her stacking rings around her wrist as if they were bracelets.  She uses her shape sorter box as her purse.    Brushing her teeth is nearly an hourly event.  She loves her toothbrush and frequently asks for it by putting her finger up to her teeth to make the brushing motions while making a "tsss" sound.  When I brush her teeth she leans over the sink every few seconds as if to spit, but has no idea how.  It cracks me up.

She can say "hi, momma, cheese, ball, balloon, bye."  She makes animal sounds and loves any animal.  She can spot a bird far away and starts pointing and calling out.  Dogs are her favorite!

Whenever you ask her if she wants something she, without fail will answer "uh uh" shaking her head no, although she means yes.

She does "scary face" by scrunching up her nose and breathing in and out fast!

She loves to move her feet quickly like she is stomping.  We call it "hot feet" (Paige started this when she was a baby).  Emery started doing it at the beach when the water would hit her feet.  She would run in place!

She loves phones and recently strung the sentence "hi dada" together.

Seth is her favorite!  I am a close second.  She is really a momma's girls.  She says hi to everyone  she sees, but hates to be left alone.  Brittany seems to be the only one so far she is okay with.

Climbing out of her high chair was a daily occurrence.  She pretty much eats a portion of her meals standing in her chair instead of sitting.  We lowered it, so that if she ever did fall it wouldn't be too far.  It was almost useless to try to keep her sitting.  She would just wriggle out of any strap or tray in front of her.

She recently climbed/fell out of her crib in the middle of the night.  She is a monkey and a climber.  She is very agile and probably going to be athletic.  She has a good arm too!  She loves the basketball and always wants me to lift her so she can shoot too.

She loves Seth's bike and always sits on it wanting to ride even though her little feet can't reach the peddles.

She and Seth love to "fight" our vacuum when it is on.  They get sticks or swords and scream at it and hit is while I vacuum.  She obviously is copying Seth in this game.

She uses baby signs and her own made-up signs so well that I don't know if she will ever need to talk.  She is very expressive.  She points to what she wants then points to her hand to mean put it in her and then makes the sign for please (paired with puppy dog eyes and a toothy smile).  She gets what she wants.  If she wants her binkie she purses her lips and gently puts her finger there and pats.  She points to food then makes the more sign then the please sign.   She is really good at communicating what she wants.  Who knows how this will affect her speech, if at all.  At least she is not frustrated or has to scream.  When I put her to bed, I rock her for a bit.  She begs to get up.  She points to the door then makes the please sign.  I say "no, time for bed" and she then throws her head back and cries.  She will then proceed to ask again, with a very sincere "please" sign.  It is too funny.  Sometimes she will even ask for a drink.  Anything to get up.  Man, I thought you had to be a lot older to figure that one out:)  She is 15 months for crying out loud!

Anytime the phone rings she thinks it is Daddy.

I want to remember these tidbits about my kids because all too soon, they grow out of their little quarks and habits.  I love this season of my life (and theirs too).
