We made another trip as a group to Yosemite! This year has been a year of historic snowfall, resulting in historic waterfall and cascade sizes. This was one of the most beautiful years I have been. Good company and good fun! Brandon had to work so he joined us a day late. I was quite happy with how the trip went. I was a little nervous how it would pan out taking the kids up on my own and hiking around for a day without him, but the kids were great and it ended up just fine.
Day 1 was spent at Bridalveil Falls. The spray this year was phenomenal. This picture looks blurry, but it is just because of all the mist! We were soaked. Emery wasn't loving that part! We then headed to Yosemite falls and took a longer hike to the lodge and then back to the cars.
There is a deer in this picture. See it? Neither did Seth, but it is to the right of the tree. Seth could never quite focus on it. Good thing we saw many other deer so he could catch a glimps!
When Brandon arrived we he brought me the coolest Mother's Day gift! A BOB stroller! I am in love with it. We also got a surprise announcement from Katie and Nate! They are having a baby in November! It was an awesome day!
Our SoCal family!
Emery was a delight riding in the carrier! She was happy back there and had a great view!
Brandon had surgery about 4 weeks before on his knee so I felt bad having him push the stroller or carry Emery. For short stints I took the stroller and Emery. I got quite a few looks from other hikers. The picture does not do the incline justice.
Muscles at the top of a rock by Vernal Falls!
There were a ton of random cascades this year. The Valley was amazing.
The last day we had lunch at the Ahwahnee hotel
Then off to the Giant Sequoia's we went! Although he is not European or 65+ Brandon used walking sticks to support his knee. He started a fashion trend in our family. Seth had to have a walking stick too just about everywhere we went. So did Emery for that matter!
Emery loved snow and kept on making the baby sign for more so that we would hand her some.
Seth had a scary moment. He was told over and over not to walk on the snow, but he didn't listen. Brandon and I were up ahead and we heard him scream. He had fallen though the snow right were Nate is about to step. There is a small flow of water under the snow and he fell in and kind of slid back. Only his head was sticking out. If only that incident would guarantee that he would listen better!
The trip ended with a snow fight!
I am hoping we keep the tradition of group vacations up! So many fun memories. I wish we got a shot of the cabin we stayed in. It was amazing and so much fun.
