A Sweet 4 (aka 2) Year Old
My little Emery turned 2! Time is flying at warp speed in our house. As far as I am concerned we have Monday, Friday and Sunday in our house. Everything else is just a blur. That is the only explanation how we have a 2 year old already. If you ask her, she will insist she is 4 though! (Seth is 4).
I didn't think that she would even understand what her birthday meant. I was so wrong! The night before her birthday Seth told her, "Guess what? Tomorrow is your birthday!" She was in her car seat and started kicking her legs and shouting over and over "happy birday to you happy birday to you!!" I have never seen her so excited. She knew she was going to have her day. That made me realize that I should make sure to give her a day (although we were not going to do a party).
Boy did she feel special. She woke up to decorations around the house and a giant balloon that Brandon went to the store and bought at midnight. (He is a good husband and will do things like that for a wife who wants things to be perfect:). She had a pancake breakfast and a friend brought by a mylar balloon. I forget how much little kids love balloons! Hours and hours of fun...and still going! After we dropped Seth off at preschool she had a play date of her own, with her own peers, which never happens. Her buddies tend to be Seth's buddies. This time, however, several friends her age from nursery all met at a park. They had a great time playing. Another friend Catherine even brought her gerbra daises. She and I both felt SO loved! What thoughtful friends we have! That evening we had her favorite meal: foop (soup and sandwiches). She got a toasted coconut cake with lemon filling and raspberries. I had been wanting to make this cake for a while and it did not disappoint!
Happy birthday to my darling girl who is full of personality and life in our home! Just for record's sake here is a list of her two year old accomplishments:
She can count to 20
Sings ABC's and just about anything for that matter
Recognizes every E and S around.
She is good at puzzles.
She has a hard time with colors and will argue that she is right even when she is wrong when you correct her:) This cracks me up!
She loves to belt out songs in the car and shusses mommy when she joins in!
She loves Seth more than anyone in the world.
Brandon just has to raise his voice slightly and it can crush her and bring her to tears (he rarely does that). She loves her daddy and can roughhouse with the boys!
She loves to jump
She is very social
She can be a bully and knows how to fight for what she wants. I have seen her pin Seth...no joke.
She is confident and very sweet
She is in love with babies! She loves to hug them, rock them, smother them, you name it! She doesn't really play with baby dolls though.
Seth's toys (spiderman and power rangers) are her favorite, but she plays with them while wearing a tutu and fake necklaces.
She is a climber. I have to watch her so closely at the park because she will try things way beyond her years.
She loves firefighters (because Seth does).
She cuddles! I LOVE this!
She tries hard to join in on any sport Seth is doing. She is very coordinated.
She has great sympathy for others and tries to take care of those who need it.
She brings such bubbly energy to hour house.

It was so fun to meet this little sweetheart and to be there for the aftermath of her birthday! Thanks for letting us have some of the delicious cake and crash the house!
